Assigning: .WIEN domain names are open to any natural and moral persons intending to show an economic, cultural, tourist, historical, social or other affinity with the city of Vienna in Austria. .WIEN domain names must be used in connection with the above conditions, throughout the term of registrationSyntax: from 1 to 63 alphanumeric characters or a hyphen (excluding in the first and last place)
IDN (accented domain names): yes
Registration period: 1 year for requests made during the Sunrise, limited registration and Landrush periods, 1 to 10 years for the general opening
Second-level extensions: no
Procedures
Registration:- Sunrise: reserved to owners of a trademark registered in Austria, and registered and validated with TMCH
- Limited registration phase: reserved to holders of a following right: trademark registered in Austria (Austrian trademarks, Community trademarks, international trademarks extending to Austria), geographical indications or designations of origin, non-registered trademarks with a secondary meaning, Business Name, specific name of a business, names, pseudonyms or aliases, protected titles, names of monuments... This phase is not available on our interface, please contact our support
- Landrush: open to any person eligible in accordance with .WIEN eligibility conditions
Renewal: domains are deactivated upon expiration, it is possible to renew up to 45 days following the expiration date
Disputes: UDRP, ERDRP and URS
Transfer (change of Registrar): the request is launched from the website of the domain's new registrar. Be sure that you have the domain's auth code (which you must get from the former registrar), that the domain's status is not "TransferProhibited", that it does not expire soon, it was created at least 60 days prior to the request, and it has not been transferred within the last 60 days. The transfer must be confirmed by email and renews the domain for 1 year
Change of Ownership: available on our interface, the expiration date remains unchanged
Deletion process: quarantine of 30 days, see this table
