About Gandi

Registered in 1999 and launched in March 2000, Gandi has become one of the largest domain name vendors in the world, with more than 2.5 million domain names under active management as of 2019. Created by internet pioneers Pierre Beyssac, Laurent Chemla, David Nahmias, and Valentin Lacambre, and then acquired in 2005 by an experienced and independent managerial team, today Gandi has a presence on three continents, with offices in Paris, Luxembourg, San Francisco, and Taipei and customers in 192 different countries.

Initially authorized by ICANN to sell .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .name, and .be domain names since March 2000, Gandi has since been accredited for .fr and .eu since 2005.

Based on its expertise in domain hosting, in 2008 Gandi launched a retail Cloud hosting service. Today, Gandi provides hosting for more than 20,000 customers with 100,000 websites hosted, with its Web Hosting PaaS service aimed at small and medium-sized businesses as well as with its dedicated IaaS service for those who want to control and implement their own technical resources.

Since March 2011, Gandi Corporate Services has dedicated itself to small and medium-sized businesses, large corporations, and agencies (more than 500 customers), providing experts who have mastered the technical aspects of domain name management (such as, for example, the specifics of DNS configuration and management), as well as the legal and marketing aspects of organizations in order to help with choosing domain names, with managing a domain name portfolio, and with implementing, especially with the defensive aspect of, a digital strategy.

Besides its role as a domain name registrar, Gandi is also an SSL (TLS) certificate authority, managing nearly 15,000 certificates. 

Gandi's professional services combine the power of dedicated servers, great flexibility in terms of server size, and optimal data security, all on a robust and innovative network and server architecture.

Creation of an R&D department, Gandi takes the lead in a consortium with major companies on major innovation projects.

The small French company who took on the large US monopolies is now, two decades later, among the top actors internationally in domain names and web hosting. In 2023, Gandi.net and Total Webhosting Solutions (TWS) join forces and announce the creation of Your.Online, a European online services platform. Arnaud Franquinet becomes CEO of Gandi.
